NICE, in partnership with the Institute for Life Course and Aging at the University of Toronto, proudly presents our 12th annual knowledge mobilization event: "AdvantAGE," the 2017 Annual NICE Knowledge Exchange. (ANKE)
This event will bring together over 250 researchers, practitioners, policy-makers, students, community members, and others in a day of interactive sessions and discussions to better understand and improve the response to peaking populations and social citizenship among older adults in Canada and abroad.
The 2017 Exchange focuses on the positive aspects of aging and the contributions of our growing older adult population. Delegates at the Exchange will participate in numerous interactive sessions, facilitated by leading experts, designed to connect research creators and users in multidisciplinary and intersectoral collaborations.
Lessons for Living and Loving: Advice from our Elders
Dr. Karl Pillemer is the Director of the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research and the Hazel E. Reed Professor in the Department of Human Development and a Professor of Gerontology in Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College. Pillemer directs the Cornell Legacy Project, and penned the book 30 Lessons for Living.
Naked At Our Age: Talking Out Loud About Senior Sex
Joan Price will present a session on aging and sex. About half of sexually active men and women age 57 to 85 in the US report at least one bothersome sexual problem; one-third report at least two. Yet only 38% of men and 22% of women report discussing sex with a physician since age 50. Joan helps you overcome this barrier with your patients and clients.
Implementation of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD): Implementation in Different Settings
Dr. Madeline Li of the University of Toronto and University Health Network will provide an interactive workshop on the implementation of Medical Assistance in Dying, providing background, a sample institutional framework (including checks and balances) and potential guidelines for documentation and staff support.
